Ellicott City Businesses Partner in Fundraiser to Benefit Grassroots Crisis Intervention, Raise Awareness of Suicide Prevention Resources
Two Historic Ellicott City businesses, Pam Long Photography and Park Ridge Creamery, will hold a daylong fundraiser to benefit Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center and raise awareness of suicide prevention resources in Howard County.
“This week is Suicide Prevention Week, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among people 10-34 years old,” said Pam Long, owner of Pam Long Photography. “After a year and a half of COVID-19, we know many of our strongest neighbors are facing mental health challenges, including stress, feelings of isolation, depression and more. So many people have helped our community during the last five years, and this is our way of giving back and supporting others.”
From noon to 8 p.m., 100% of the profits raised by ice cream sales at Park Ridge Creamery will be donated to the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle, community prize baskets, photographic note cards and prints for sale, and Little Market Café will also be donating 10% of its sales to the effort.
“I’ve lost people close to me to suicide and I’ve seen what that kind of loss can do to others as well,” said Julia Sanger, owner of Park Ridge Creamery. “It’s important to me that people understand they aren’t alone. There are so many resources out there and it’s crucial that their availability is widely known.”
Anna Katz, Operations Manager, Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, Inc. will be on hand from 2 pm - 6 pm to answer any questions you may have.
