Information via social media post from Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services on February 20th:
Just before 4PM this afternoon units were dispatched to the 9300-blk of Snowden River Parkway in Columbia for smoke coming from a building. First arriving companies found heavy smoke showing from the roof of Lincoln Technical Institute and requested a 2nd-alarm assignment.
Fire was found to be burning in a 200ftx200ft section of the roof around solar panels and HVAC equipment.
The fire was under control in approximately 45 minutes, but it took and additional three hours to complete overhaul and check for hot spots. The Office of the Fire Marshal is on scene and there were no injuries. Several units from Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties assisted as part of the 2nd-alarm and task force assignments.
