Chris Tomlinson files for State Delegate in District 5
On Thursday, January 27 , Third Vice Chairman of the Maryland
Republican Party and Carroll County resident, Chris Tomlinson filed to run for the Maryland House of Delegates to represent the Fifth Legislative District.
“I am running because Carroll County needs a proven conservative and community leader who is ready defend Carroll values in Annapolis,” said Chris. “I have the energy and enthusiasm needed to fight back against vaccine mandates and COVID-19 restrictions, stop liberal indoctrination from entering our schools, and support our law enforcement and 2nd Amendment rights.
As a longtime conservative activist in Carroll County and across Maryland, Chris has served as an elected member of the Carroll County Republican Central Committee since 2017 and in 2020, he was elected the Third Vice Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party. Chris was the only delegate at the 2020 Republican National Convention elected from Carroll County, and who was endorsed by President Trump’s campaign. From 2017-2021, Chris wrote for The Carroll County Times and The Baltimore Sun, where he covered state and local politics as a bi-weekly conservative opinion columnist advocating for tax reform and small businesses, addressing the opioid epidemic, and exposing liberal politicians and far- left policies & legislation.
Professionally, Chris serves in Governor Larry Hogan’s administration as a manager in State procurement. Chris has been instrumental in the execution of essential State contracts worth billions of dollars.
In the community, Chris is active as the President of the Lineboro-Manchester Lions Club, an appointed member on the Carroll County Historic Preservation Commission, and an At-Large board member for the North Carroll Business Alliance.
“I look forward to taking my message to every corner of the District and making sure conservatives have a voice in Annapolis who will bring the fight to the liberal establishment,” said Chris.

Chris Tomlinson joins these other current candidates in District 5:
- Delegate April Rose
- Dennis E. Frazier
- Sallie B. Taylor
Of the three current Delegates serving District 5…we know:
- Delegate Haven Shoemaker is not running for reelection but instead will seek State’s Attorney in Carroll County in 2022.
- Delegate April Rose is running for reelection
- Nothing official from Delegate Susan Krebs (but I have been told that she plans to seek reelection in 2022).
I have been told that there is one other well known name in the county that is planning to run in District 5 in 2022…I will not mention them by name here in this article because I have not seen it officially announced or an official filing…but I believe that person will enter the race before the February 22nd deadline.
District 5 is shaping up to be one to watch closely for Carroll County residents in 2022.
Reminder: District 5 will change a little in 2022 (that is the expectation unless the court system changes it down the road).
