Notes: $300,000 cash on hand should keep any serious challengers out of that primary. I think the significant amount of PAC money and big donor money is something folks should pay attention to on these reports (not just for this candidate but all candidates bringing in that kind of money).

Next…let’s look at the one challenger to date:

(R) Reid Novotny

Starting Balance: $13,526.21
Total Receipts: $47,337.00
Total Expenditures: $16,065.15
Cash Balance: $44,798.06

Items of note:

  • Outstanding Loan Balance: $54,091.96
  • From MD Candidate Campaign Finance Entities: $6,100
  • From MD PACs: $1,250

Other major contributions that caught my attention (more than $999 aggregate to date):

  • Bishop, Dori: $1,000
  • Conley, Roger: $1,000
  • Giovanis, Theodore: $1,000
  • Harris, Michael: $1,000
  • Kim, Lisa: $1,000
  • Park, Soo: $3,000
  • Parsha, David: $1,000
  • Schnorf, Cole: $1,000
  • Stewart, Daniel: $1,000
  • Troy Hill Corp: $1,000

Not as long as list as above for the big donor list on this report. I hope I got everyone on the report…this report does not do a good job with the “Aggregate To Date” column.

Notes: As mentioned above…I think the amount of PAC money and big donor money is something folks should pay attention to on these reports (not just for this candidate but all candidates bringing in that kind of money).

Here is a summary view of the reports noted above:

Final notes about these reports:

Hester currently holds a BIG lead in fundraising and cash on hand today. The General Election is WAY off yet and there is still plenty of time for additional candidates to enter this race (filing deadline in February 22, 2022).

Why do I note loan balances in the information above…I believe that this could be indicative of a candidates ability and willingness to self finance their campaigns. Something to keep in mind.

I am still planning to write up District 13 Delegate candidates campaign finance reports. I had planned that for today but I have to be out and about later this morning for work so I might not get to it until tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.
