Announced via Press Release on January 19th:
Allan Kittleman announced today that more than 1,000 individuals have donated to his campaign, evidence of the widespread support for his bid to become Howard County Executive.
Since mid-October, Kittleman has received 1,052 donations from 1,018 individuals, of which 920 are from Howard County. More than $126,000 was raised from these small donations, and the expected initial public match from the Howard County Citizens’ Election Fund is more than $380,000. Matching funds from the Citizens’ Election Fund for a Howard County Executive race are capped at $700,000. Therefore, the Kittleman Campaign is eligible to receive another $320,000 from the Citizens’ Election Fund.
“I am humbled and honored to have received the support of so many of my neighbors and friends,” said Kittleman. “I knew when I announced that this would be a historic grassroots campaign in Howard County, and the numbers demonstrate that.”
When Allan announced his candidacy on September 5th, he made a commitment to participate in Howard County’s public campaign finance program, the Howard County Citizens’ Election Fund. This program seeks to end big money influence in politics by limiting donations from individuals to $250 for the entire election, as well as prohibiting donations from any businesses, PACs, or other special interest groups.
“We now have enough to certify for participation in the Citizens’ Election Fund, and I look forward to continuing to build on our campaign’s momentum,” Kittleman added.
In total, the campaign is expecting to have over $500,000 after receiving the initial match from the Citizens’ Election Fund.
Kittleman, who served as Howard County Executive from 2014-2018, says the support he has seen so far is evidence that his message of supporting children attending their neighborhood schools, bolstering public safety, making Howard County more affordable, and unifying our communities, is resonating with residents.
