Saif Rehman posted the following today on Facebook:
I am announcing today my candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 9A.
As an immigrant who came to this country almost four decades ago for better education and now a husband, father of three young children, and a small business owner, I consider myself very fortunate to be living in this wonderful state of Maryland and great country and would like to keep giving back to the community which has blessed me with so much and more.\
As a former Board of Education candidate, education is still one of my top priorities. I will provide my vision/platform as we move towards a formal announcement.
I am starting my campaign by reaching out to you, my friends, and the leaders of our community, to ask for your endorsement, financial support, and volunteer effort. If you would like to discuss my plans or join our winning team, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your support.
An official announcement and more information to follow soon.
Saif has told Scott E’s Blog that he will be running as a Republican in that race. As of this post on January 10th Saif has not filed to run. One other candidates has filed to run in District 9A as of today: Natalie Ziegler (Learn More)
The two current elected officials representing District 9A (Trent Kittleman and Reid Novotny) have not filed or made official announcements (that I have seen) about their plans for 2022. Reid Novotny has an event tomorrow and I believe he is expected to make an announcement at that event.
The new proposed map for District 9A will change that district pretty drastically removing southern Carroll County and adding northern Montgomery County. Here are my thoughts on what is proposed for District 9 (9A and 9B) with the new legislative redistricting process: https://scotteblog.com/2021/12/22/howard-county-politics-the-proposal-for-district-9-shows-that-representatives-in-annapolis-are-selecting-their-voters-instead-of-voters-selecting-their-representatives/
