Here is the statement posted to social media on January 2nd:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to permanently close SteelFire Kitchen & Bar in Fulton, effective 1/2/22.
Opening a restaurant was one of Eric’s goals and we were blessed with a successful five year run (Covid notwithstanding). However, the past two years have taken a toll – on everyone! – and we’ve decided it’s time to shift our focus back to our family and enjoy our final year before becoming empty-nesters.
As an affordable, casual restaurant dealing with rising supply costs, staffing concerns, decreased hours of operation, increased minimum wage, etc, we have re-evaluated our priorities and realized that we no longer have the patience required to continue down this road.
That being said, THANK YOU for supporting us! Our guests have given us the gifts of kindness, friendship, and loyalty, and we’ve persevered because of YOU. We’ve remained open longer than we wanted to because of YOU. Your weekly dates, special occasions, family outings, and exciting parties have brought joy to our staff and we’ve loved hosting you in our “second home,” especially those of you who dine with us multiple times per week (sometimes twice a day)! We will treasure the many conversations and laughter that made “work” feel more like “play.”
We’ve enjoyed getting to know our community, hiring your teens, donating to your events, and – most importantly – keeping you fed and happy! We’re going to miss you. Your generosity has been overwhelming and we’ll never forget that you took great care of us just as we strived to take great care of you.
We are immensely grateful to our staff, our vendors, our neighbors, and our friends for joining us on this wild ride. You’ve been by our side through the Covid challenges and we’ve appreciated the opportunity to be there for you as well. We have the utmost respect for the sacrifices everyone has been making to adjust to the pandemic, and we feel blessed to be part of such a strong and resilient community.
