The following was posted yesterday (on November 8th) from the Progressive Democrats of Howard County:
The vote on County Council Redistricting is TOMORROW, and The Progressive Democrats of Howard County (PDHC) podcast is BACK, and this time we have a very timely episode on the current redistricting process going on for Howard County Council districts. Tomorrow at 4 PM the Redistricting Commission will be selecting one of their 6 current proposed maps to send to the County Council for the next step of adoption - tune in to watch, it should be interesting. https://cc.howardcountymd.gov/Online-…
Our community redistricting “experts” we speak to on this episode are Francis Uy of Our Revolution HoCo and PDHC, longtime Howard County activist Ken Stevens, and multi-year Howard County Blogger of the Year winner Scott Ewart from Scott E’s Blog (now living in Carroll County!).
Tune in to hear about how the redistricting process has played out from start to present, including major missteps by the County in terms of providing important info for residents to adequately assess how each redistricting map would affect them. The guests also give their takes on each map - or at least what each map was BEFORE they were all changed last second by the County TODAY! It was public knowledge that of the previous sets of maps, Maps A and B were the “Democratic maps”, and Maps C and D were the “Republican maps”, and Map E was the “compromise” map, but as of today, a new Map F was uploaded, as well as many of the other maps being changed from what they were originally.
The period for public testimony is over for the Redistricting Maps, but the meeting tomorrow where the Commission chooses their map will be public, and we encourage folks to watch https://cc.howardcountymd.gov/Online-…
