Howard County commits $2 million of the County’s American Rescue Plan allocation for existing bus drivers and attendants; and signing bonuses to address the vacancy and workload issues

Announced by Howard County Executive Calvin Ball on November 9th:

In light of the demands being placed on school bus drivers that are providing a critical and important service to students and families throughout the County, I am committing $2 million of our County’s American Rescue Plan allocation to provide retention bonuses for existing bus drivers and attendants, and signing bonuses to attract new bus drivers and attendants to address the vacancy and workload issues that have plagued these men and women and the services they provide over the past several months.
