Continuing my school COVID-19 updates…Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) is reporting 173 active cases of COVID-19 on October 13th. These numbers are updated every Wednesday of each week. Here is the breakdown of the numbers this week:
- 168 Students
- 5 Staff
Note: Numbers reflect active confirmed positive cases for each week. As a result, these students and staff are in quarantine.
CCPS is also now reporting the “Quarantined” number on their dashboard. This week that number is 478. Last week that number was 824. The week before that number was 1,405.
Note: Quarantine data reflect the number of individuals required to quarantine because they are a close contact to a Positive COVID-19 case. The quarantine data do not reflect individuals in quarantine because they are COVID positive.
Of Note: Carroll County Public Schools revise COVID-19 quarantine protocols starting October 4th: (Learn More)
“in settings where universal masking is in place, an asymptomatic student who is identified as a close contact to a positive case will no longer need to be quarantined”
An early review of this new policy: the policy has significantly reduced the number of students missing school due to quarantining and there has (so far) not been an increase in new COVID cases. Of course this is very early and something to continue to watch closely going forward.
Here is a look at the COVID-19 numbers over the past 6 weeks on the dashboard:
Not listed on the dashboard: On September 17th CCPS had 803 students in quarantine
