Continuing my school COVID-19 updates…Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) is reporting 197 active cases of COVID-19 on October 6th. These numbers are updated every Wednesday of each week. Here is the breakdown of the numbers this week:
- 191 Students
- 6 Staff
Note: Numbers reflect active confirmed positive cases for each week. As a result, these students and staff are in quarantine.
CCPS is also now reporting the “Quarantined” number on their dashboard. This week that number is 824. Last week that number was 1,405. The week before that number was 1,221.
Note: Quarantine data reflect the number of individuals required to quarantine because they are a close contact to a Positive COVID-19 case. The quarantine data do not reflect individuals in quarantine because they are COVID positive.
Of Note: Carroll County Public Schools revise COVID-19 quarantine protocols starting October 4th: (Learn More)
“in settings where universal masking is in place, an asymptomatic student who is identified as a close contact to a positive case will no longer need to be quarantined”
As this just started a couple of days ago I do not think this had a significant factor on the quarantine numbers this week, so this is something to watch with the numbers in future weeks.
Here is a look at the COVID-19 numbers over the past 5 weeks on the dashboard:
Not listed on the dashboard: On September 17th CCPS had 803 students in quarantine
