Howard County Public School System reports 958 students and 35 staff members in quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test or as a close contact

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is providing quarantine numbers every Wednesday by 11 AM. Here is the latest information reported:

As of Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, there are 958 students and 35 staff members in quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test or as a close contact. These numbers will be updated every Wednesday by 11 AM.

Please note that close contact or quarantine does not indicate those students or staff have tested positive for COVID-19. See below for daily and 7-day totals of positive case numbers.

Here are the numbers reported last week (957 students and 38 staff members in quarantine; so 1 more student and 3 less staff members).

Here is a look at the current HCPSS COVID-19 dashboard:

60 cases reported over the past week. Some cases of “a student who participates in athletics” reported over the past week.

The 60 cases is more than what was reported last week (51 cases reported).

Keep track of the daily / weekly numbers from HCPSS here:  https://covid.hcpss.org/

I will try next week to put together some nicer spreadsheets to show this data over time now that I have a few weeks worth of data.

  1. How is it that HCPSS is tracking “non-public school” data? Thats interesting. Do non-public schools have an obligation to report anything to the public schools?
