By a vote of 10 to 7, the AELR committee approved a mask mandate for all Maryland public schools

There have been multiple articles already on the topic of the Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive, and Legislative Review Committee (AELR) approving the State Board of Education emergency regulation to require masks inside public schools. Here are links to a few:

Anyone else shocked to hear that this vote was a “strictly party-line 10-7 vote”?

Here is information on the emergency regulation: (DLS Control No. 21-110):

Here is the video of the entire meeting (you can skip to the end to see the vote and the comments made by elected officials on the committee):

This will affect two school systems right away: Carroll County and Somerset County: Updated Mask Mandates in Maryland Schools: Carroll County and Somerset County are hold outs to implement the proposed state mandate of mandatory masks in schools

I will keep an eye out on social media posts from those school systems:

Carroll County: Facebook

Somerset County: Facebook
