The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Howard County police are investigating a non-fatal shooting late Monday, Aug. 30, in Columbia.

At approximately 11 p.m., police were called to the 5500 block of Cedar Lane for a report of shots fired. They located Kyjuan Jennings, 20, of Columbia, nearby suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was treated and released.

Through investigation, detectives believe Jennings was alone in his vehicle in a parking lot and was approached by suspects from another vehicle. Jennings was shot and the suspects fled. Police found evidence at the scene that multiple shots had been fired.

The motive is unknown at this time and there is no suspect information. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-STOP or

  1. More and more criminals and predators are showing up in HOCO.
    I think our High Commissioner Ball should take notice and put in place a strong and effective preventive and effective action plan.


  2. I have lived hear for several years. Ball will do nothing. Violent crime is rising but the powers that be do not want to draw attention to it. People in Howard county try and pretend we have the safest communities best schools etc etc.
    I enjoy living here but let’s be honest the best attribute about Howard county is location.
