Maryland State Board of Education Hosts Special Meeting Thursday, August 26th

Special In-Person Meeting Held at State Education Building for Discussion of Statewide School Masking Requirements

The Maryland State Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Thursday, August 26th at 3 p.m. at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street in the 7th floor State Board Room.

If a “Statewide School Masking Requirement” is announced…I will be interested to see if school systems and Board of Education members across the state talk about local control today or if they jump on board with the decision made at the state level. We saw many BOE members talk about the need for local control of decisions in the past and I will be on the look out today and over the next few days for statements from schools systems, BOE members or other elected officials. I have already come across one type statement from an elected official:
