A key metric tracked throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in Maryland has been the Positivity Rate (The 7-day average percent positive rate for COVID-19 tests administered). The magic number has generally been 5%; Below that number and we are doing OK and above that number things are not going great. Today the Maryland Department of Health reports that the statewide Positivity Rate is 5.04%.

The last time the Positivity Rate was above 5% was back on April 22nd (5.1% reported that day).

For the two local areas I write about:

Carroll County currently is reporting a Positivity Rate of 4.22%. This is the highest reported rate since May 9th (4.25%)

Howard County currently is reporting a Positivity Rate of 2.94%. This is the highest reported rate since May 1st (3.11%)
