For those that follow my personal accounts on social media you have seen a lot of pics of me working on the weekends since moving to Carroll County. Here are some of the things I have been doing on the weekends the last couple of months:

Fire Pit:

We had an area of the yard that was used for a fire pit (or just an area used for bonfires that was mostly dirt). I decided to take that space and build a proper(ish) fire pit. Here are some of the photos I took along the way:

There were a lot of trips to Home Depot to get it built and I am pretty happy with it. I even gave it a test run before we really begin using it this fall (I see a party with friends around the fire pit this year):

Mending the fence:

When we moved in there were some missing sections to the fence along the property:

I worked at cutting the wood left over and getting this fixed up:

This has been a lot of work but also a lot of fun for me. There are a great many more things we want to do so most of my weekend days are booked for a while…as long as my back and knees hold out.

By the way…my most important purchase for all of these projects is my wagon:

I would give the Gorilla Cart a rating of 10 out of 10.

Earlier this week family from Tennessee visited…more family from Tennessee is in town this weekend and early next week. Blogging is taking a back seat a bit for the work and family visits (still getting out what posts I can in between).

The evenings are fun to hang out on the back patio and see the improvements to the new place:

This post only outlines the outside work. There has been a great amount of stuff done indoors….but that is a post for another day.

  1. Hurray! Work like that can be enormously satisfying. We miss you back in Howard County, but it looks like you are sculpting a gorgeous place for your family and that’s exciting to see. Great work and congratulations!
