On June 14th Neveen Kurtom filed to run for Howard County Council in District 1. Here is information she shared on social media:

Today I am proud to announce my candidacy for Howard County Council District 1. I am excited for the opportunity to serve the people of my community as their voice on the county council. I want you to have a leader who will listen to your concerns and will work with you to find the best solution for our community.

As your next county councilmember, I will make sure that our public school system continues to excel, that our small businesses continue to thrive, and to ensure that public safety remains an integral part of our lives and that works for everyone. I am committed to making sure that everyone has equal representation and a true advocate for you on the county council.

As a former prosecutor and now small business owner, I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to work for you on the county council.

Here is what is listed on the Maryland Elections site for Howard County:

The current Councilmember in District 1 is Liz Walsh (D). I have not seen an announcement if she plans to run for re-election in 2022.

Neveen Kurtom is the second candidate to announce a run for County Council in Howard County in 2022 so far:

(May 30th): Darren Vilus files to run for Howard County Council in District 4

I will be on the look out for additional candidate filings in the future.
