Leadership Howard County to hold annual dinner and graduation

Leadership Howard County, which seeks to empower leaders to strengthen and transform the community, will graduate the Leadership Premier 2021 class and recognize community leaders and alumni for their service to Howard County at the organization’s annual dinner and graduation. The event will take place virtually for attendees on June 15 at 5:45 p.m.

Leadership Howard County will present awards to:

  • Kathleen Hetherington will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, which recognizes a Leadership Howard County graduate who has worked to better the community. Hetherington has served as president of Howard Community College since 2007 and leads more than 2,700 faculty and staff serving almost 30,000 students every year. In addition, she serves on boards, councils and committees across the region and has received awards recognizing her leadership. Hetherington graduated from Leadership Howard County Premier in 2001.
  • Bruce Hollander will receive the Unsung Hero Award, which recognizes a Leadership Howard County graduate whose efforts have gone unrecognized. Hollander graduated from Leadership Howard County Premier in 1999 and has volunteered with the organization since, serving on the board and chairing the general membership and sponsorship committees. In addition, Hollander was treasurer for Leadership Howard County and serves on the finance committee. He is senior vice president for commercial banking at Sandy Spring Bank.
  • Evelyn Bolduc and Jackie Eng will both receive a Leadership Legacy Award, which celebrates community members whose sustained service has helped Howard County. Bolduc has served on the Howard Hospital Foundation board, including eight years as chair, as well as the Howard County General Hospital Board, and has volunteered in Howard County for more than 35 years. Eng has advocated for low-income residents of Howard County for more than 25 years, including holding leadership roles for human services organizations Bridges to Housing Stability and the Association of Community Services of Howard County.
