Howard County Executive Calvin Ball will launch his digital equity initiative and unveil the newly redesigned County website on Monday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Troy Hill Park in Elkridge. The new equity initiative plans to build on the progress made during the pandemic, including recently expanded free public Wi-Fi to 12 new locations around Howard County, including Troy Hill Park. Additionally, the new website was developed to be mobile-friendly and more accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
“Throughout the past year, we have seen the many cracks and ruptures in our community exacerbated by the pandemic. None was more apparent though than the digital divide among our residents and businesses as so much shifted online,” said Ball. “This initiative builds on the progress we have already made to expand broadband during the pandemic but will take us into the future where Howard County is a national model for digital inclusion.”
