The following was posted by Howard County Executive Calvin Ball on May 9th:

According to the Maryland Department of Health, 74.3% of eligible Howard County residents 16+ have received their first dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine. This percentage includes those who may have received a first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

The only way we can go back to normal is if we look out for one another, StayCOVIDSafe, and get vaccinated.

Exceeding the 70% number for first dose vaccine administration is a big deal and a great milestone for the county. It is also nice to see many of the other local jurisdictions surrounding Howard County with high numbers of vaccines administered (Montgomery, Carroll, Baltimore and Anne Arundel are all near or above 60% first dose administered ).

President Joe Biden set the goal of getting 70% of U.S. adults to receive at least one dose of a Covid vaccine by July 4.

Last week it was reported that Howard County was at 53.2%

If you have not been vaccinated yet there are many opportunities to get vaccinated now. Many locations offer walk in vaccination opportunities without appointments.

Eligible Marylanders can now get vaccinated without an appointment at any of the state’s 13 mass vaccination sites
