Carroll County Public Schools has been recognized among the Best Communities for Music Education by The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding music education programs for the fifth consecutive year.

The Best Communities Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for this award, the school system was required to complete a detailed questionnaire about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, and support from the Board of Education and the community.

The CCPS music program has been recognized for many accomplishments at the state and national levels.  Several students were selected for the 2020-2021 All-State ensembles. Brandi Jason, a music teacher at Liberty High School, was the 2019-2020 Carroll County Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the Maryland Teacher of the Year.  Carroll County also is proud to have three Nationally Board Certified Music Teachers – Barbara Anastasion, Mechanicsville Elementary School; Kristen Gottleib, Winters Mill High School; and Julia Richard, Westminster High School.
