Today is the big day for Village Elections in Columbia. Here are some things I will be interested in when it is all over and the results are announced:

Columbia Association Board of Directors races. The Rouse Project has made a significant impact on this election cycle and I will be interested to see how their backed candidates do in this election. Will the big money spent (mailers, signs, phone banking, etc…) by The Rouse Project be the deciding factor in a hyper local election?

Voter Turnout. Again, The Rouse Project did a lot (some say good and other say not) to shine a light on this election and we should see significant increases in voter turnout. I will be interested if villages publish that data.

Columbia Association Board of Directors race in Wilde Lake. Three candidates are running to represent Wilde Lake on the Columbia Association Board of Directors. While I generally do not do endorsements I am cheering on Bill Santos in that race. He is ex-Navy (as am I) and has a long standing of involvement in his community (see our interview here).

Village Board race in Hickory Ridge. There are 12 candidates running for 5 seats on the Village Board. This is by far the most interesting of the Village Board races this year.
