The Howard Lions defeated the Wildecats Friday night in highly charged closing match to the 2021 football season that saw a stunning 46-yard field from Howard’s Camren Kovach.  The Wildecats struck first with an early touchdown with 2:09 left in the first quarter giving them a 7-0 lead after converting the extra point. But the Lions responded early in the second quarter when QB Kyle Colbert rushed for a touchdown. After Kovach’s amazing 46-yard field goal to close out the first half, the Lions found touchdown gold again when Lions Senior Alex Brown intercepted Wildecats QB Doniele Cooper’s pass and returned it 36-yards for a touchdown and a 17-7 lead. The WIldecats got three more points after a Lions fumble, which narrowed Howard’s lead to seven points, but it wasn’t enough. With 1:26 left in the game, the Lions put up three more points for a 20-10 lead.
