Glenelg’s JV and Varsity field hockey teams both defeated their Mt. Hebron counterparts in the game on April 7th, with JV remaining undefeated (9-0) after a 3-1 victory with only one more game left in the season. Glenelg’s Theresa Stiller scored their first goal of the game in the second quarter. In the third quarter, Emily Altshuler scored for Glenelg as well, then Abigail Smith for Hebron. Although Hebron tried to close the gap and score two more points in the fourth quarter, Glenelg was on the offensive, with Gladiator Maggie Metz scoring one more goal with nineteen seconds left in the game.

Glenelg’s Varsity team also dominated the ball the majority of their game. They scored their first goal about four minutes into the first quarter by Sarah Kang from a corner. Then, with about four minutes left in that same quarter, they scored again by Ashley Kim with an assist from Kam Henson. Glenelg’s third goal was scored at about the eleven minute mark in the second quarter, again by Ashley Kim, with an assist from AJ Eyre, then their fourth by Kam Henson in the third quarter. Hebron finally scored one in the fourth quarter, by Paige Leitzel, with about thirteen minutes left in the game. However, Glenelg kept the ball at Hebron’s goal, effectively preventing the Vikings from scoring another, ending the game at 4-1 Glenelg. This leaves Glenelg’s varsity team with a season record of 7-2.

Glenelg’s JV team will next play Marriotts Ridge and Mt. Hebron will play Howard. Both will be away games, and will commence at 5:15 pm on April 15th. The varsity teams will then go up against those same opponents at 7:00 pm the same night.
