Information provided by the River Hill Community Association:
Last night, a medium size black bear was spotted in the Village of River Hill near the pathway behind the homes on Gentle Call and Blue Point Court.
Residents are asked to report sightings of potentially dangerous wildlife to Columbia Association and also to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
The fastest way to alert CA would be to email CA directly at email@example.com, or you can call CA’s Open Space Management Division at 410-312-6330. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) should also be notified at 1-877-463-6497 or 410-631-3000. If it is an emergency dial 911!
Residents can always notify the River Hill Community Association by calling 410-531-1749 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pass the information along to CA and DNR.
Additionally, residents are reminded that the contents in trash cans and recycle bins can be very appealing to wildlife – including bears! The Covenants in the Village of River Hill require that trash cans and recycle bins be stored in such a manner that they are out of sight from adjacent and surrounding properties, other than on the day of pick up. They should not be out in the open on driveways, on side yards, backyards, etc. as it will invite unwanted critters and is also unsightly.
Thinking of building a trash enclosure? Exterior Alteration Applications must be submitted and approved before building a trash enclosure.
Exterior Alteration Applications are available on the River Hill Community Association’s website at www.villageofriverhill.org.
