Both the JV and varsity boys soccer teams at Mt. Hebron won their games against Long Reach High School last night. The final score for the JV game was 3-2 Hebron, and 5-1 Hebron for the varsity game.
Within the first fifteen minutes of the first half in JV boys soccer, Mt. Hebron’s Vikings scored two goals: the first was by Aiden Dunn, and the second by Dhishan Reddy. With no other goals scored in the half, Hebron was up 2-0 at Halftime. Reddy scored another goal, his second this game, five minutes into the second half. However, the Long Reach Lightning’s made a comeback, with Hassan Sharieff scoring Long Reach’s first goal twenty-one minutes in with a penalty kick. Then, with only three minutes left in the game, Daniel Cortez scored Long Reach’s second.
This win brings Hebron’s JV team’s season record to 4-2-1, and leaves Long Reach at 2-4.
In the varsity game, the Vikings displayed an incredibly strong offense, scoring three goals in just the first half. The first was about halfway through, and scored by junior Alex Likakis with an assist from junior Liam McCaffery. The second of the three was scored by junior Jimmy Linsenmeyer, with an assist from Likakis. And the third was by senior Andy Strohman, with an assist from senior Ethan Wool-Lewis. Long Reach scored their first and only goal from a penalty kick by freshman Steven Casasola ten minutes into the second half. However, the Vikings managed to still score two more goals after that- their fourth goal of the game was scored by senior Jason Taylor with an assist from Linsenmeyer, and their fifth by senior Brendan Demeck with an assist from senior Gabe Bonilla- bringing them to a total of five goals.
Hebron’s varsity team is currently undefeated 7-0, and Long Reach is 1-5.
Both Hebron’s varsity and JV teams will next meet Reservoir’s Gator’s on Reservoir’s field, and Long Reach will go up against Oakland Mills’ Scorpions, which will be a home game for the Lightnings. Both JV games will commence at 5:15 PM on March 30th, and both varsity games at 7:00 PM, also on the 30th.
