Nomination forms are available online – deadline is April 15th
Howard County’s Department of Recreation & Parks is now accepting nominations for its 2021 “Community Sports Hall of Fame.” Nomination forms are available on line at www.hcrpsports.org/halloffame or by calling the Department of Recreation & Parks at 410-313-1691. Deadline for nominations is Thursday, April 15th.
Founded in 2005, the Community Sports Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding individuals who have gained prominence in or made substantial contributions to community recreational sports in Howard County.
“Howard County is home to so many incredible coaches, mentors, officials, and volunteers,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “Their tireless dedication to our residents and Howard County’s diverse sports and recreation offerings should not go unnoticed – especially during a year when these programs have served as a great outlet and resource to our community. I encourage county residents to nominate these role models to our Community Sports Hall of Fame for their positive influence throughout Howard County.”
Coaches, managers, league officials, commissioners and even behind-the-scenes contributors closely identified with community recreational sports can be nominated. Nominees must also be a Howard County resident or have contributed to a community sport primarily in Howard County.
“Each year we honor unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond for our student athletes” said Recreation & Parks Director Raul Delerme. “Their mentorship, support and commitment are essential to the success of the leagues and programs we offer in Howard County. Induction into the Community Sports Hall of Fame is our way of thanking the adult members of our sports community, who have dedicated countless hours both on and off the field.”
All nominations must be received or postmarked by Thursday, April 15th. Nomination forms can be completed online at www.hcrpsports.org/halloffame, emailed to email@example.com or submitted by mail to: Howard County Community Sports Hall of Fame, Attn: Mike Blevins, 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, MD 21046. Individuals chosen for this year’s class will be inducted into the Community Sports Hall of Fame at Recreation & Parks’ annual Celebration of Sports event in October.
