CCPS Food Services Receives Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant

The Carroll County Public Schools Food Services Department has received a $10,000 Hometown Grant as part of Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program. The school system is using the funds to help offset the cost of a van purchased to support  school and summer/emergency meal programs.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program was created in partnership by the National Football League and the National Dairy Council, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Hometown Grant initiative provides $10,000 to schools to enhance their school meal programs and provide meals to students, even while studying remotely.

In addition to the grant, the American Dairy Association North East is providing 200 at-home physical activity kits to CCPS students so they can still get exercise. These kits will be shared through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Westminster.

For more information, contact Karen Sarno, Supervisor of Food Services for Carroll County Public Schools, at 410-751-3041 or krsarno@carrollk12.org.
