The following are updates from the Howard County Police Department on January 11th:
(8:28 p.m.): UPDATE: Route 32 has reopened in both directions at Burntwoods Road following earlier fatal collision.
(5:55 p.m.): NEWS RELEASE: Police investigating fatal collision involving multiple vehicles
Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving six vehicles in Dayton.
Officers were called to Route 32 about a mile north of Linden Church Road at approximately 2:47 p.m. for a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
One driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, an adult female, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries. Two others were taken to Howard County General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Route 32 is expected to remain closed in both directions for an extended period of time.
UPDATE (3:50 p.m.): Route 32 remains CLOSED in both directions at Burntwoods Road in West Friendship following earlier collision with significant injuries. Extended closure expected, find alternate routes. Will update.
