Maryland State Senator Katie Fry Hester Scheduled To Listen In During The HCPSS Student Reopening Testimony Session Hosted By Scott E’s Blog On December 17th

Maryland State Senator Katie Fry Hester (District 9) has registered to listen in during the event “Howard County Public School System Reopening Testimony Opportunity For Students“. This event will provide an opportunity for students to provide testimony, thoughts and comments about their wishes related to Howard County Public Schools reopening. Each student will be provided 3 minutes for their comments. The video (or at least a link to this video on YouTube) will be sent to all current Howard County Board of Education members on Friday December 18th. The event will also be live streamed on Scott E’s Blog Facebook page.

My role in this event will be that of a host, time keeper (3 minutes for each student) and a community member to listen to what the students have to say on this topic. State Senator Hester will be there to listen as well. Neither of us will be asking questions or making statements in this session as this session is about the students and their thoughts on this topic.

I am happy that State Senator Hester will be joining in to listen to the students in this session. I think it is always nice to know that our elected officials are listening to the thoughts of the community. Hopefully other elected officials will listen in as well during or after this event.

Yesterday a local high school student informed me that he is not able to make the session scheduled for Thursday evening and took the initiative to record his testimony on his phone and emailed it to me. I thought that was great.

If this works better for other students (or parents helping students) wishing to provide input on this topic feel free to email the video to me at I will be sure to incorporate those videos into this session and the final video to be sent over to the Board of Education.

Just remember to keep the video to 3 minutes.

If students wish to testify at the session in person make sure they register here before 6:30pm tomorrow:
