The Maryland Department of Health is reporting 501 beds in use (Acute and ICU) due to COVID-19 on October 28th. This is the most total beds in use due to COVID-19 across the state since August 11th (529 beds in use on that day). Here is the latest chart per the state COVID-19 dashboard: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/
If you look at that chart above you can see a trend of rising beds in use since September 20th when the number reported was 281.
As we move into the holiday season and hear what contract tracing is reporting (family gatherings and house parties as significant spreaders of COVID-19) these numbers could continue to increase if we are not careful here in Maryland.
I will continue to track the numbers…and be sure to watch the Weekly Tracking Charts to see the weekly trends of the data reported by the state and county.
