More than 100,000 Howard County residents requested mail-in ballots for the 2020 General Election. As of October 16th more than 35,000 of those ballots have been returned to the Board of Elections. Here is a breakdown of the Howard County numbers and the Statewide numbers:

Some notes:

  • Democrats are outpacing Republicans and “Other” on returning ballots (by percentage returned).
  • Howard County is ahead of the statewide numbers for all parties in terms of returning mail-in ballots up to this point in the election cycle.

According to the latest data from the State Board of Elections Howard County has 227,960 registered voters (as of September 2020). That means 44.5% of registered voters requested mail-in ballots. That also means that 15.7% of registered voters have cast votes in 2020 up to this point.
