The following was reported by National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington at 5:20am on Twitter:
Isaias is moving NE across NC, crossing our region through the early PM. Heavy rain will intensify with significant flood potential, especially near & east of I-95. Winds will also increase in these areas, with wind damage possible. Tornadoes also possible, mainly near the Bay.
If you look at Weather.com and look at the “future” radar here is a look at the projection around 10:00am this morning:
Obviously the big concern is around flooding that may happen locally…especially with Ellicott City in Howard County (Howard County Prepares for Tropical Storm Isaias).
Things to also keep an eye on are tornados. Watching the early morning weather reporters on various TV stations…they are stressing that item as well this morning.
Today feels like a good day to stay in if you can…if you can not keep a close eye on what is being reported.
The upside is that this system looks like it will likely move through our area by early to mid afternoon.
Be sure to check out ReadyHoCo.org for information and resources. Yep…I know…the page is not an easy one to read and get useful information…but there is some good information on the page…you just have to dig through the bad design of the page to get to it. I really hope the county can make this page better in the future…it is an important page with important information and this should be an easier read than what it is today.
