Maryland Department of Health reports 553 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 on August 2nd. This is a reduction of the number of beds in use by 39 today (Acute -36, ICU -3). This is the largest one day decrease Maryland has seen since late June.

You can view the daily data here in this Google Spreadsheet:

On the local level…Howard County is reporting 13 beds in use on their dashboard today (11 Acute and 2 ICU). This is the second consecutive day that Howard County has reported that number of beds in use on their dashboard. This represents one of the lowest numbers of COVID-19 beds in use reported in months.

Hopefully this will begin a new downward trend in beds in use at the state level and that at the local level the numbers remain as low as they are today and continue to track in the right direction.

I have tried not to get to high or to low based on one day of data but I will continue to track this and update on my Weekly COVID-19 Charts.
