Howard County Executive Calvin Ball posted the following on Twitter this morning:
Nearly 25% of #HoCoMD residents have NOT yet taken their Census. We lose nearly $18k in funding for every person who doesn’t complete the Census. This is critical funding which can help our healthcare system with hospital beds, emergency services & more.
A look at the HoCoCounts 2020 Census Dashboard (see photo at the top of this article) shows Howard County at 75.7% Cumulative Self-Response Rate as of the morning of July 10, 2020.
Of the counties in Central Maryland Region Howard County currently only trails Carroll County in “Cumulative Self-Response Rate” – they are reported at 77.7% on the dashboard.
The state of Maryland is reported at 65.9% Cumulative Self-Response Rate on the dashboard.
The National Self-Response Rate is currently 62.0%.
According to the 2020 Census website the “Self-Response Phase”
(Online, phone and mailed self-responses continue throughout the data collection process) runs from March 12 – October 31. This means if you have not completed the 2020 Census you still have time. That being said let’s make Howard County the top in the region…if you have not filled out the 2020 census…do so today!
