The Loan Closet of Howard County to Begin Accepting No-Contact Donations and Returns Beginning on July 6th

The Loan Closet of Howard County will open for non-contact donations and returns at two locations beginning on Monday, July 6th. The Loan Closet of Howard County provides refurbished durable medical equipment and resources to all Howard County residents and caregivers to improve their overall quality of life.

“Howard County’s Loan Closet is a critical resource for our population and provides the opportunity for all our residents to thrive,” said County Executive Calvin Ball. “Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a greater need for medical equipment and resources for our residents and caregivers. We’re pleased that this service is able to safely accept donations again.”

Donations at the 7125 Riverwood Drive location may be dropped off every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only. Donations must be made by individuals who are able to independently unload all equipment at the Loan Closet’s loading zone and are willing to receive donation receipts by electronic or traditional mail.

Donations can be made at the Loan Closet’s Durable Medical Equipment Shed located at the Alpha Ridge Landfill from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Alpha Ridge Landfill is located at 2350 Marriottsville Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104, and donation receipts will not be provided at the satellite location.

Non-contact equipment distribution remains available at the Loan Closet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For more information about medical equipment donations and distributions, contact Mary Becker at 410-313-0363 (voice/relay).

I am happy to see this announcement. We have equipment that we obtained from the Loan Closet that we have wanted to return for some time so that others in the community could use that equipment.

Howard County Community Resources and Services has some work to do on their webpages for The Loan Closet as it has yet to be updated with the announcement of receiving equipment in July (Due to COVID-19, the Loan Closet is not able to accept equipment donations or returns at its Riverwood or Alpha Ridge locations at this time):
