Clyde’s of Columbia posted the following message on social media today:

We look forward to connecting with you more over the coming days & weeks, but we had to share that our last day will be July 18, 2020.

Clyde’s of Columbia opened in 1975 to give Maryland suburbanites a spot closer to home. In a serene natural setting, overlooking a quiet lake, diners can watch songbirds and waterfowl while enjoying American favorites such as burgers, ribs and seafood.

According to the social media account of The Merriweather Post:

Clyde’s of Columbia and The Soundry will be permanently closing on July 18, as confirmed by a call I just placed to the restaurant. At this point, no other Clyde’s locations in the DC metro area are impacted.

Opened June 1, 2018, The Soundry brings headliners and up-and-coming acts to the stage in Downtown Columbia.

Brought to life by the same culinary team that envisioned classic DC area restaurants like Clyde’s and Old Ebbitt Grill, The Soundry combines great food with amazing entertainment in one unforgettable venue. And when YOU want to be the headlining act, the space can even host your private events.

No information has been shared by The Soundry on social media or their website but one can assume that if Clyde’s is closing than so would The Soundry (as both are part of the Clyde’s Restaurant Group) and The Merriweather Post confirmed the information via a phone call.

This will be a big loss for the lake front in Columbia and I will be sad to see both locations close.

ARTICLE UPDATE: Here is a blog post from The Merriweather Post with a press release about both Clyde’s of Columbia and The Soundry: Clyde’s of Columbia and The Soundry to close on July 19

  1. I am wondering whether this is related to the planned development of the Lakefront by the Howard Hughes Corp.
