Maryland Department of Health decreases confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Howard County by 23 on June 16th

The Maryland Department of Health reported 2,327 cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Howard County on June 16th. This is a decrease of 23 cases reported yesterday. Here is a recent tracking of reported COVID-19 cases by the Maryland Department of Health per their dashboard:

This would be the second time a negative number of new cases in one day reported for Howard County by the State over the past three days. If you want to see the history of new cases day by day reported by the state…be sure to view this link: and click on the Howard County tab in the spreadsheet.

Since Saturday (June 13th) when I wrote up and published my last weekly chart article the number of total cases of COVID-19 in Howard County has dropped by 44 cases (from 2,371 to 2,327).

According to Mike Ricci (Communications Director for Governor Hogan) the last time this happened (the numbers were reduced) was due to “Some cases that originally were initially attributed to the address of the provider who ordered the tests were corrected”. I do not have any information why the numbers were decreased again today but one can guess that this might be the issue again.

On the Howard County COVID-19 dashboard this is what we are reporting locally for the total number of cases on June 16: (2,334)

I will continue to watch the numbers daily and weekly from the state and county for significant items for the community.

Note: Daily COVID-19 updates going forward will happen on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (unless something significant needs to be reported on the other days) during the week. Weekly weekend charts are on hold unless a spike in numbers are noted in the future in Howard County or Maryland.
