Weekly tracking charts of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Howard County and Maryland – May 30th

Every Saturday I plan to provide a weekly look at some of the significant numbers related to cases of Coronavirus in Maryland and Howard County via weekly tracking charts.

Here is the weekly tracking chart looking at the total number of reported cases in Maryland and Howard County:

Note: Nice to see Maryland and Howard County with a lower number of new cases being added this past week.

Here are the weekly tracking charts of the number of deaths in Maryland and in Howard County (I still believe that this should be a critical metric to watch closely going forward):

Note: While there are still entirely to many people passing away per week due to COVID-19 it is encouraging to see a 4 week trend of less deaths per week in the state.

Here is the weekly tracking chart of hospitalizations (“ever hospitalized”) in Maryland:

Notes: After a big spike last week it is good to see that number fall significantly over the past week

Here is the weekly tracking numbers for new ICU and Acute Hospital Beds for COVID-19, Currently in Use:

Notes: It is nice to see the number of Acute and ICU beds in use to continue to track downwards on the weekly tracking at the state level. A little concerning on the local level to see the numbers tick back up over the previous week. Something to continue to watch this next week. Howard County continues to be a day behind in reporting this information on their dashboard…that is why the data for HoCo is from 5/29 and not 5/30.

Here is my new chart this week: Number of people tested weekly:

Note – the number of people being tested was way up this past week and the % of positive cases dropped.

The state recently a “Testing Volume, Tests per Day and Percent Positive Rate (7-Day Avg)” to their dashboard and that might be my new chart next weekend.

This is a good site to keep up to date with the latest coronavirus updates worldwide:  (Worldometer) https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ or (Johns Hopkins) https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html.

A local blog reader has put together this really great and informative Google spreadsheet with some great data. Be sure to give it a look daily: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19a2ACAQVz_Vi2UIcD-byZXKttTmUd8js6-kd3qLO-Ac/edit#gid=280098391

Note: Daily updates going forward will happen on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (unless something significant needs to be reported on the other days) during the week.
