As part of the announcement made yesterday by Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) relating to continued school closures due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the plans for Continuity of Learning implementation the school system stated “Spring Break from Monday, April 6 through Monday April 13 will remain intact for students”.

I am really not sure if I should shake my head, shrug my shoulders or giggle at that part of the announcement. I am sure there is a legit good reason for it that someone understands. The full paragraph in that statement reads:

As we have during these past two weeks, HCPSS will remain operational during this time with staff working remotely. Spring Break from Monday, April 6 through Monday April 13 will remain intact for students; however, school staff will engage in professional learning activities during that week. All school and central office staff will be off on Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 as previously scheduled.

Maybe the Howard County Board of Education will address that in their meeting scheduled for today (4 p.m. Virtual Meeting of the Board of Education of Howard County). It is not on the agenda but maybe one or more of the current board members will ask some questions…you never know.

Phase 3 of the implementation plan is not on the currently published agenda but this is noted in the announcement yesterday “A more detailed update regarding Phase 3 will be shared with the Board of Education during its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, 2020 and provided to the community via email in my daily update.”

More about the happenings with the school system as I see them published or announced.
