The number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is now over 1,000 (1,037 per the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins dashboard). That source is also reporting 28 total deaths in the US as of this morning.
The other source I use to track the Coronavirus numbers (Worldometer) has the following numbers as of this morning: 1,010 confirmed cases and 31 total deaths.
Worldwide the US has the 8th most confirmed cases behind China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, France, Spain and Germany.
Maryland has 9 confirmed cases as of this morning. The top states with confirmed cases are:
- Washington (269)
- New York (176)
- California (157)
- Massachusetts (92)
- Florida (28)
Many announcements have come out over the past week dealing with travel and events…here are a few:
- New guidance for (Maryland) state employees that includes suspending all business-related out-of-state travel.
- Howard County Government Cancels All Out-Of-State Travel for County Employees
- Howard County Public School System Cancels All Out-of-State Field Trips; In-State Field Trips Being Reassessed
I would anticipate similar announcements in the near future. No word on the various upcoming Howard County Board of Education candidate forums…but do not be surprised if some are canceled or postponed depending on how thing progress going forward.
I will continue to track news and information here on the blog.
