South Carolina has been talked about for a while to the the firewall state for Joe Biden and it did not disappoint for him on February 29th. Biden received over 48% of the vote and took away 33 delegates from South Carolina.

It was not a clean sweep for Biden and Bernie Sanders got over the magic 15% amount of votes and took home 11 delegates from the state.

Here are the results from South Carolina:

Where do things stand now…

Here is the total Delegate count after 4 states:

Sanders remains the overall leader with 56 delegates followed by Biden with 48 and Pete Buttigieg with 26. All other candidates have less than 10 delegates.

Here is the total vote count after 4 states:

Biden takes the total vote lead with 325,296 after a great day in South Carolina. Sanders is easily in 2nd with 260,625. All other candidates have received less than 200,000 total votes so far.

The big announcement after the results started coming is was that “Billionaire Tom Steyer quits Democratic primary race“. A 3rd place finish in South Carolina was just not good enough to keep him in the race this year.
