There has been some confusion and questions about how voting for the Howard County Board of Education candidates would go this election cycle now that candidates run by council districts and not countywide this election cycle.

Maryland State Board of Elections posted links to the upcoming primary ballots that confirms what many us of thought…you only get to vote for 1 candidate in the upcoming primary. Here is a link to the Howard County ballots:

As you scroll through the various ballots you will see Board of Education candidates on some of them…here is an example of one:


As you can see…you get to choose only 1 candidate for HoCoBOE in your district in 2020.

The two candidates that receive the most votes will move on to the general election cycle in each district.
