Mfume, Klacik win nominations in the special primary election for 7th Congressional District seat in 2020

By now you have probably heard that Kweisi Mfume (D) and Kimberly Klacik (R) won nominations in 7th Congressional District Special Primary Election on February 4th. Here are some of the results for those candidates and others in the race:

As of this post 312 of 313 election day precincts have reported.

Republican Candidates: 

Those with more than 10% of the vote include:

  • Kimberly Klacik has 4,415 (40.7%) – Winner
  • Liz Matory has 2,661 (24.5%)
  • James C. Arnold has 1,344 (12.4%)

Kimberly Klacik won all three jurisdictions (Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Howard County). Liz Matory was second in all three jurisdictions.

Democratic Candidates:

Those with more than 5% of the vote include:

  • Kweisi Mfume has 29,333 (43.0%) – Winner
  • Maya Rockeymoore Cummings has 11,619 (17.0%)
  • Jill P. Carter has 11,013 (16.1%)
  • Terri Hill has 5,112 (7.5%)

Breakouts by jurisdiction for the four noted candidates above:

Baltimore City:

  • Kweisi Mfume – 17,766 (53.3%)
  • Jill P. Carter – 6,201 (18.6%)
  • Maya Rockeymoore Cummings – 5,036 (15.1%)
  • Terri Hill – 411 (1.2%)

Baltimore County:

  • Kweisi Mfume – 8,349 (43.6%)
  • Maya Rockeymoore Cummings – 3,355 (17.5%)
  • Jill P. Carter – 2,475 (12.9%)
  • Terri Hill – 1,177 (6.2%)

Howard County:

  • Terri Hill – 3,524 (22.2%)
  • Maya Rockeymoore Cummings – 3,228 (20.4%)
  • Kweisi Mfume – 3,218 (20.3%)
  • Jill P. Carter – 2,337 (14.8%)

Kweisi Mfume had significant vote advantages in Baltimore City and Baltimore County and that was the difference in this race. Terri Hill won Howard County and she can be proud that HoCoMD went her way in this special election.

    • Actually you can thank gerrymandering for this. The 2 parties have been dancing around with this crap…cant wait for scotus to rule the whole thing illegal. Till then its more of the same.
      So now prepare for another dark decade or 2 of more failed baltimore policies…the quality of leadership is so low its shocking. This guy just like the first has over 5 kids with diff women and crooked as ever. The blind leading the blind….the future is very dim. You can now be all but certain the great exodus of Bmo to county and hoco will go on for the next 20 years…The new columbia will be somewhere much west of clarksville at this rate. That or it will be a shell of what it was just like baltimore was 40 years ago….sad but true
