We have a new candidate for Howard County Board of Education in District 2: James Cecil.

I checked and the website listed is not up and running yet. I also did a quick search on Facebook and did not find a page for the campaign.

Hopefully we get additional information about this candidate in the near future.

Article update: Here is an article I was sent in which a person by the name of James Cecil is quoted: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/controversial-redistricting-plan-adopted-in-maryland-school-system/2019/11/21/f4fe3fa6-0b11-11ea-8397-a955cd542d00_story.html.

Here are the candidates that have filed and or announced they plan to run for HoCoBOE in 2020:

  • Christina Delmont-Small

District 2:

  • Larry Pretlow
  • James Cecil

District 3:

  • Gian P Alfeo
  • Tom Heffner

District 4:

  • Kirsten Coombs
  • Matt Levine

Other currently elected officials on the HoCoBOE that are up for reelection include: Sabina Taj (District 1) and Jen Mallo (District 4). The filing deadline for candidates to enter this race is January 24, 2020 by 9:00pm. I am expecting a big field of candidates to run in 2020.

Be sure to stay up to date with candidate announcements and links to candidates websites and social media channels here:  https://scotteblog.com/hocoboe-in-2020/

If you plan on running for HoCoBOE in 2020 be sure to give me a heads up so I can make sure to list you on my tracking page.
