NEWS RELEASE: Child dies in pedestrian collision

Howard County police are continuing to investigate a collision in which a 6-year-old boy was killed today in Columbia. Isaac Gill, of Columbia, was transported in critical condition around 2 p.m. to Howard County General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His mother, Nazia Gill, 38, was taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, police believe the two were struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk at Harpers Farm Road and Twin Rivers Road. The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, remained at the scene and was not injured. Police are working to determine the cause of the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, but the case remains under active investigation.
