NEWS RELEASE: Police charge two men in theft of rims and tires

Howard County police have charged two Washington, D.C., men with stealing or attempting to steal rims and tires from vehicles at auto dealerships in the county since August.

Dominic Marcel Fowler, 35, of Half Street SW, and Donovan Keith Braxton, 34, of E Street SE, are charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, and destruction of property. Both are being held without bond – Fowler at the Howard County Detention Center and Braxton at the Frederick County Detention Center.

Investigators believe the two men stole six sets of rims and tires valued at approximately $24,000 from vehicles on the lot of Koons Chevrolet in the 12400 block of Auto Drive in Clarksville on Aug. 23. On Oct. 7, police believe they attempted to steal rims and tires from 14 vehicles on the lot of Apple Ford in the 8800 block of Stanford Boulevard in Columbia. Police responded and the suspects fled, leaving behind the rims and tires and a stolen U-Haul truck.

Through investigation, Howard County police identified both suspects. Since then, numerous agencies in the region are investigating the men for similar thefts. Howard County police arrested Fowler on Dec. 18 and Thurmont Police in Frederick County arrested Braxton on Dec. 8.
