Announced on Facebook:

Just before 9 AM on Monday, November 18, 2019, firefighters and paramedics from Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS) were dispatched to the 5500 block of Bluecoat Lane in Columbia for multiple reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews saw heavy fire showing from the second floor and through the roof of the structure. Crews began attacking the fire from the outside of the structure before advancing inside. Primary searches confirmed there were no residents home when the fire occured. Two dogs were rescued by HCDFRS, treated with oxygen on the scene via pet oxygen masks, and transported to a local veterinarian facility.

Update: the dogs seem to be doing fine and were alert before HCDFRS left the veterinarian.

The fire took less than 30 minutes to place under control and was completely extinguished a short time later. The American Red Cross is assisting 2 adults and the house will be posted.

The HCDFRS Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of this incident.
