110 Community Members Scheduled To Speak At The HoCoBOE Redistricting Meeting On September 26th

Tonight is round three of testimony concerning the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) redistricting plan (Glenelg HS, Marriotts Ridge HS, Reservoir HS, River Hill HS and feeders).

According to the agenda on BoardDocs…there are 110 members of the community (students, groups and individuals) that are scheduled to speak tonight (starting at 6:00pm). Most of the speakers tonight will be students (they make up the first 85 members on the list). Here is that list:

I have been told that there will be an “Opposition Rally” starting at 5:00pm this afternoon for those opposing the current HCPSS plan.

I have not heard of a similar rally of supporters of the HCPSS plan happening today. If there is something planned…let me know in the comments. There were supporters of the plan at the last meeting on the 24th…so it will not surprise me to see more supporters of the plan this afternoon.

An additional public hearing has been added for Region III overflow only on Monday, October 7 at 6 p.m (no agenda published yet for that meeting). Additional hearings for Region III overflow are being scheduled and will be posted the week of September 30. If the numbers I am hearing are correct…there may be a few “Additional hearings for Region III” to be scheduled. I have heard that there are more than 400 people signed up to testify about Region III.

I am not sure I will make it out today to get pictures of the event…it will depend on my work schedule this afternoon and what family stuff we might be doing this evening. If I do make it out…I will try and get photos online later this evening.
